Group 2 URL Central

I am posting active links to everyone's individual web pages. Anytime someone updates their page, we will all automatically see the updates since you URL stays the same.

First impression on Alyssa -
Really spiffy, but was wondering if you can put the kid content on another page? So a teacher could read all of the teacher stuff, then send the kids where they need to be?
Maybe chunk up the kid stuff (the exact opposite of the frog site - which was a really cool site, but impossible for a kid to follow.

Actually Jim page might be easier chunked up into different pages... and so would mine and so would Beth's.... wow, I'm a one track thought....

Thanks, Cate! I'll definitely consider adding the additional "kid" content onto another page.

This is all we need for now! Thanks for collecting the URLS and posting for easy access.

Jim, I might suggest that you chunk your page into multiple steps. Instead of giving your students a laundry list of things to do, it may be beneficial to the students. Often they see a lot of text and they shut down. It's difficult to read a lot of text on a screen, and if it were broken up it might be a bit more engaging.

I still need to do a lot of formatting. Actually, this is a pretty short Webquest compared to many. Did you look at the Cancer one I reviewed in the conference? It was massive! I totally agree with you about too much text on the screen. I plan to use photographs and tables to separate the information and break (chunk) it up. I'm hoping to make it a LOT more engaging. I may also make this more than one page as Cate has suggested, even though web pages have the advantage of scrolling endlessly (well..almost). Thank-you for your input.

Jim, I liked how easy your webquest was to follow. It is very well layed out and flows nicely. I'm sure you know you could add some pictures. But other than that, it looks great so far!

Jim,

Your group page needs to include the teleresearch purpose for each lesson, the objective, the grade level, etc. That information will help me and other groups review your page.

Thanks!

Dawn

Jim,

I like the idea of exploring pages that present approaches to evaluating photos. I've been trying to learn how to do that myself.

Consider including only the WebQuest objectives (not the lesson objectives, unless you show how they are connected). Also, you probably should add an objective related to the research process of "uncovering" information. (I have a question about what you mean by "uncover"--are you wanting them to read closely to locate information from one source? Or will you give them multiple sources, from which they are expected to synthesize the slightly different perspectives?)

Ok. I'll add that. I was going to put it in when I added the summary for each lesson and inserted the links, but I'll put it in now. I'll also go ahead and add the summaries we already have and update them as needed. Thanks for the input!

I see your confusion! Would it provide more clarity to say "explore and synthesize various concepts about..."? I am providing multiple sources for them to access. I do want them to access all of them so they have a variety of perspectives for each topic.

Thanks for clarifing. Yes, that would be great if you would provide multiple sources. That takes care of the multiple perspectives nicely!
